We are a community driven soccer/athletic program designed to enrich and develop athletes to reach their full potential in their craft. Golden Boot Academy works with athletes of all ages as they go through their athletic journey. We are a set of coaches that have been through the rigorous and demanding field of athletics with backgrounds ranging from professional soccer overseas to playing for respected universities in California. Our main goal is to strengthen our community through developing athletes and positive individuals by providing a platform for them to grow and become successful. The end goal is to help these athletes get scholarships to colleges or go on to become professional athletes. With a good support system and some hard work we believe anyone is capable of achieving what they put their mind to.

NIGUS SOLOMON

Nigus Solomon
(Goose)

Nigus has 8 years of coaching experience with ages ranging from 5-Adult for multiple clubs including; East Bay United, Tottenham Spurs (Berkeley), Glens Evolution, and Various high schools in the bay area. Nigus also has experience on the collegiate level having been the third assistant coach for the San Francisco State University’s men’s team in 2019 and currently is the Trainer for Womens Semi pro team NightHawks who compete in the WPSL.

Nigus started playing soccer with East Bay United in Oakland and then with Berkeley High. After high school Nigus moved to Germany to play for SV Vaihingen Fussball club and later with FSG Schiffweiler Fussball club. After spending 2 years in Germany, Nigus returned and attended San Francisco State University where he played 4 years of college soccer. Nigus played in the NPSL (semi pro league) for the East Bay Stompers for 3 years and currently plays for Oakland Soccer Club In the San Francisco Premier League.

Yohannes Harrish
Joe
Yohannes brings a wealth of experience to our coaching staff, having played professionally with the Oakland Roots for three years before transitioning into a successful coaching career spanning over a decade. With 12 years of coaching under his belt, Yohannes has spent four years as a dedicated team coach, honing his skills in strategy and player development. His expertise extends beyond the team setting, encompassing eight years of coaching in private sessions, group settings, and intensive camps through Golden Boot, where he has influenced countless aspiring athletes. Currently, Yohannes continues to make an impact by working closely with both Oakland Roots’ first team players and participants of Project 510, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing talent at all levels of the game.

Abdulahi Mohammed
Abdu
Abdu brings a unique blend of playing and coaching experience to our coaching team. As a player, he honed his skills at Holy Names University for two years before making a mark in the competitive environment of Project 510 USL 2 for an additional two years. Transitioning seamlessly into coaching, Abdu has dedicated six years to coaching with GBA, where he has developed a keen understanding of player development and tactical strategies. His coaching journey has also led him to serve as a technical coach for Project 510 and Oakland Roots for the past year, where he continues to impart his knowledge and passion for the game to aspiring athletes. Abdu’s dual perspective as both player and coach enriches his approach to mentoring, ensuring a holistic development experience for all players under his guidance.
Justin wolfe
Justin brings a deep-rooted passion for soccer and a wealth of diverse experience to his coaching role at GBA. His journey in the sport began at the age of 7 and evolved through college soccer at SF State and Newberry College, where he honed his skills both on and off the field. Justin’s playing career extended into the semi-professional realm, where he made significant contributions to teams such as Contra Costa FC, SF City FC, East County Revolution, and Oakland SC. His transition from player to coach at GBA since July 2020 is a testament to his commitment and understanding of the game’s nuances. Justin’s unique perspective as a former client turned coach enables him to connect deeply with players, providing mentorship that goes beyond technical skills to encompass personal growth and leadership development on and off the field.
Arman

Arman has been playing competitive soccer since age 8. He played for the mustang club where he won the State 2 times, played in Nationals, and won the Surf Cup once. He also made the championship game of NCS with Monte Vista HS twice. Then he played 4 years at University of Redlands and finished 7th in the nation in the NCAA ranking. He played with Cal United (Orange County), Oakland Roots 510, and Oakland SC before heading to Barcelona, Spain. He played 2 seasons in Spain’s 3rd divisions with Llagostera, and UE Costa Brava where he perfected his “tiki taki” style of football.

Arman has been coaching players aged 6 to 18 for the last 3 years. Most of those players have stayed with him even after he traveled to Europe. He has taken classes in conditioning, skills, and knowledge of the game.

Kevin
Kevin brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our team. With over 20 years of playing experience across various levels and continents, Kevin’s journey in soccer is nothing short of impressive. He started his professional career in Europe, notably signing with German 4th division side SC Schwabach 04 in 2017 as the youngest first-team club signing at 19 years old, followed by stints with 7th division side Tadcaster Albion in England (2017-2019) and 4th division (Tercera) side Villamarxant CF in Valencia, Spain (2019-2020). Kevin’s roots in the game trace back to the Bay Area, where he played youth soccer with prominent clubs such as Earthquakes Academy, Mustang SC, Pleasanton Ballistic, and Stockton Storm. He also played his freshman year of college at Cal State Monterey Bay in 2016. More recently, Kevin has competed stateside with teams including Bay Cities FC (NISA), Oakland Roots’ 2nd team Project 510 (UPSL), SF City FC (USL 2), and Oakland SC (NPSL), and he is currently playing for The Town FC (NPSL).
Jullian perez
Juice
Julian, at 23 years old, brings a dynamic blend of playing and coaching experience to our team. His playing career has taken him across diverse soccer landscapes, including three years in Barcelona, Spain (2017, 2021-2023), a year in Costa Rica’s 3rd Division, and four years in Mexico’s academy system. On the coaching front, Julian holds a UEFA B Coaching License earned in 2023, underscoring his commitment to coaching excellence. He currently serves as the Director of Development Academy at East County Revolution FC for the 2024/2025 season, while also leading as the Head Coach for the 2012 boys NPL team. Julian’s international coaching experience is equally impressive, having served as the Head Coach for the 2010 boys in the Honor’s Division in Extremadura, Spain in 2023 and as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Amateur Club Atlètic Masnou in the same year. His multifaceted background as both a player and coach brings a fresh perspective and invaluable expertise to our coaching staff.
